New Recruits for the British Army
On Tuesday 26th August in a moving ceremony here at the Rifles Museum, nine new recruits for the British Army, all from the Salisbury area, signed and swore the oath of allegiance to Her Majesty the Queen in front the Mayor of Salisbury, Iris Evans. Also present were Army Recruitment Officer, Major Nigel Walker, and the young recruits' proud families. The young soldiers will start their training at Harrogate on 5th September on a course that will take at least sixteen months before they are then ready to join a unit.
