A Wiltshire Regiment tunic was recently left with us, but the person who left it did so by leaving it on our doorstep with no information attached to it.
The tunic, a 1949 pattern, has no name inside of it, but does have a date - 1953. Looking at the medal ribbons we know that the original owner served in World War 11 with the 2nd Battalion, The Wiltshire Regiment - he was awarded the Military Cross, The France and Germany Star, The Italy Star, Defence Medal and British War Medal.
We know he also was with the Wiltshire Army Cadet Force in 1953 as there is a 'Moonrakers' flash attached to the tunic.
After doing some research, we also know that it could belong to one of the following Officers as these were still serving in 1949, were in the 2nd Battalion The Wiltshire Regiment and won the M.C. They are;- Major G. Woolnough M.C., Captain D. Ballentine M.C., Captain R. Lucas M.C., Captain R.A.S. Ward M.C., and Captain A.D. Parsons M.C.
Please note the ranks of these Officers are as they were in 1949.
We will keep you informed!
