Home of the Infantry Regiments of Berkshire and Wiltshire

Gifting Items

Do you have an item in your possession that you think might be of interest to us and would like to offer it to our collection?

Please note that the museum is currently not accepting any new donations into the collection at present as our small curatorial team are working towards our redevelopment project, 'Update 25'.

If you have an object in your possession, or come across something during this period that you think may be of interest to us, feel free to get in contact and we can advise you further:

[email protected]

For future reference, please read the collections guidelines:

What items do we collect?
We are looking for items of significance linked to the following only:

  • 49th Regiments of Foot

  • 62nd Regiments of Foot

  • 66th Regiments of Foot

  • 99th Regiments of Foot

  • Royal Berkshire Regiment

  • Wiltshire Regiment

  • Duke of Edinburgh’s Royal Regiment (Berkshire and Wiltshire)

  • Royal Gloucestershire Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment

  • Royal Gloucestershire Berkshire and Wiltshire Regiment Light Infantry.

How to Donate an Item

Please contact us first in writing or by email before sending any items as we are unable to return them.  Please give as much information as you can about the item.  A photograph would also be really useful.

We will then consider the details and if the item is accepted we will be in touch to explain what happens next.

We are not able to accept everything that is offered to us. This might be because:

  • We already have a similar item in our Collection
  • The item does not fall into our Collecting Criteria, for example is not from a former Berkshire or Wiltshire regimental unit.

  • The item is not in good condition

If this item is not suitable then we will try to suggest other possible institutions who may be interested.

What happens to the item?
If it is accepted by us, then the item will be stored in our Collections.  It may be used in our permanent displays, temporary exhibitions and loaned to other Accredited institutions.

The item may be useful for “handling” purposes, for example for education sessions.
