Entry | Battn continued in SERRE - MUNICH TRENCHES and made a bombing attack on the SUNKEN ROAD (part of MUNICH TRENCH) taking three prisoners and gaining about 50 yards of trench. The trench was blocked and a sniping post started. A Lewis gun was also placed here, and caught enemy retreating across the open when 112th Bde attacked on our right. 5.00pm. During the day enemy fire was very slight, but at dusk their artillery was very active on the Battalion's position. In view of this activity the Battn stood to until 9.30pm. Rations and wire very difficult to bring up owing to hostile shell fire. 7.00pm. MANCHESTER Rgt started relief of Battn but unable to complete owing to difficulty of crossing open ground. Casualties 2 OR's killed, 11 OR's wounded. |
