Entry 12 MN to 5 AM. Enemy not active. At 4.45 Bn HQ moved from ELLIS Square to dugout corner of EGG and VALLADE TRENCHES. Battn started to move forward at 5am. 5am - 5.30am. Battn moved into forward trenches, taking up positions in BORDEN and STIRLING [2 words unreadable]. Considerable enemy artillery and minenwerfer fire. Enemy MGs active. Morning very misty. 5.30 - 11am. Battalion remained in new position until 11.00am. Enemy active all the time. Weather continued good. Condition of trenches very bad owing to knee deep liquid mud. 11 - 11.30am. Battn moved to VALLADE TRENCH, remaining there until morning. Slight enemy shelling with heavies. During afternoon enemy snipers were very active. Casualties. 9 OR's killed, 23 OR's wounded.
