War Diary

1916-04-24
Regiment 1st Royal Berkshire
Location France, SOUCHEZ
Entry Weather fine. The Brigade sent up three English newspapers with orders that they were to be thrown into the German trenches. This was done by Pte Barnes who threw them on to the enemy parapet and returned. A German crawled out and took the papers acknowledging them with a salute. The same working parties were employed as on previous nights. Hostile artillery not quite so active at night, but during the day HEADQ TRENCH was shelled with fizzbangs. Weather fine.
