Entry In billets - Fairly heavily shelled all day. At 5.45pm Battalion returned to La Metz Fm valley and relieved 3rd Btn Rifle Brigade. Dispositions two Coys and 2 platoons in trenches. 2 platoons in reserve at La M Fm. One Coy Bde reserve at VERNEUIL. Relief effected by 2.30 am. Reported enormous accumulation of SAA at farm. No 9641 Pte Ward shot by award of Fld G.C.M this date for cowardice on 14.9.14. Sentence executed at 6pm. Body buried SW of Oeuilly village. 1/Kings (Liverpool Rgt) holding section canal to BEAULNE Ridge on right. R Berks M.G. sect on E. Bk of canal. 2/S. Stafford Regt Rifle Mound - Rifle Point to our left. No casualties.
