Entry | A patrol was again sent out to examine DEADMANS TRENCH. This patrol went all the length of the trench but found no signs of recent occupation by enemy. Rifle and hand grenades were again active against our saps. Enemy snipers opposite PRINCES ISLAND were active. The right Coy commenced wiring on their front. Wire along the battalion front was only fair. Observation was kept on the FORT during the day, and it was thought that some kind of work was going on there. Work on the parapets continued. Weather fine on the whole, slight showers. 6 men wounded by rifle grenades. Captain Methuen returned from leave and resumed duties of Adjutant. |
