Entry | Brigade route march. Battalion paraded at 9.10 and passed brigade starting point at 9.43, three minutes late. We were the leading battalion, the only unit in front of us being the Brigade Headquarters. The route lay through the outskirts of BETHUNE, along the RUE D'AIRE to CHOQUES and GONNEHEM, where units dispersed to their billeting areas. The Brigadier complimented the Commanding Officer on our turnout. The following units took part in the march in the following order: 1st KRRC (advanced guard), 1st R Berks, 22nd Royal Fusiliers, 23rd Royal Fusiliers, 162 Bde RFA, 5th Field Coy RE, 15th TMB, D/167 Bde RFA (Howitzer) with its BAC, 6th Field Ambulance. The Battalion arrived back at BELLERIVE at 12.35. Captains Sharpe and West attended a lecture on co-operation between Artillery and Infantry at AIRE, to officers (C.O.'s 2nd in Command and Coy Cmdrs) of the Division. The afternoon was devoted to foot and rifle inspections, cases of bad feet however, and in fact any kind of sickness were very few during this rest period. The general condition and health of the men was very good. |
