Entry | Battalion proceeded to move to BETHUNE after relief by 18th Royal Fusiliers (Public Schools) at 9 am, but on entering the outskirts of Bethune along the main Bethune - La Bassee Rd we were met by an officer from the Town Majors Office carrying orders for us to change our destination and move to billets in FOUQUEREUIL and FOUQUIERES LEZ BETHUNE. On arrival at FOUQUEREUIL we were informed that the billeting area allotted to us was already occupied by other units. The Division then ordered the Battalion to move to BETHUNE. One half battalion (A & B Coys) were in the FUYERE BARRACKS. The other half (C & D Coys) were in RUE D'AIRE. The battalion bathed by companies during the afternoon. |
