Regiment | 1st Royal Berkshire |
---|---|
Location | France, BEUVRY |
Entry | Weather still frosty. Battn relieved 1st Battn Kings Regt in subsection Z2. Relief complete 1 pm. The right of Battn Mine Point and left GUN STREET. B Coy right front, C Coy centre, D Coy left with A Coy in reserve in Wimpole Street. The whole of our trenches in this area were in very bad condition, chiefly front line, Back St & High St. This was due to the bombardment our guns had carried out the day before against the mine crater and front enemy trenches opposite this sector. Several rounds from our guns aimed at the mine crater had dropped short into our own front line causing considerable damage. The hostile guns in reply caused considerable damage to High St and Back St which were the support trenches. The whole of the day was employed in building up damaged parts. |
