Entry We supplied a working party of 2 NCO's and 50 men at 9.15 am for work under the RE. Two Coys of Royal Fusiliers became attached to the Battalion. One company took over Left Centre Sector from A Coy R Berks. The other Company took over Right Sector from B Coy; on being relieved B & D Coys marched independently into billets at ANNEQUIN SOUTH, A Coy having previously relieved D Coy. The work of making dugouts continued under RE supervision. The general improvement repairing and laying down of floors continued throughout the day and into the night. Shelling from 1.30pm to 2.15pm enemy's field artillery shelled our 2nd and 3rd lines, same area was again shelled from 9 to 9.45 pm. Two hostile machine gun positions were located during the night and reported, about 10 pm a small party of hostile infantry (3 or 4) was seen climbing over their front parapet opposite the right of Z1. We put up a flare and fired on them and they were not seen again. Weather unsettled with some rain. Casualties. 1 wounded.
