Entry Battalion ceased to be under orders of the 12th Division. The battalion relieved the 5th Scottish Rifles and 1 company 2nd Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in subsection Z1. C Company took over the left sector, A Coy the left centre sector, D Coy right centre sector, B Coy the right sector. Relief was complete by 12.30 pm. All companies moved up by CAMBRIN CHURCH and MAISON ROUGE ALLEY. The trenches as a whole in the battalion area were in very good condition. Work on dugouts was continued under RE supervision. General work of repair on the parapet, firing steps and parapets [sic] was continued in the front line and in the support trenches. Two new traverses were built and 26 floor boards laid down. Shelling and enemy machine guns and snipers were fairly active during the night. These were replied to effectively. Heavy movement of transport heard in the direction of HOCHY LE BASSEE between the hours of 6 pm and 7.15 pm. Weather frost during the night. 2/Lt Frogley proceeded on leave.
