Regiment 1/4th Royal Berkshire
Location Italy, [Bavaria]
Entry We were relieved by the 3RD BATTN 163 REGIMENT, relief being completed by 12.30am (15th). It was an exceptionally dark night and the back areas had been very heavily shelled in the evening. The relief passed off well, and the Italian Commander expressed his great satisfaction with all that had been done for them. The enemy's guns were active all day, and especially in the evening. We moved to GIAVERA for the night. Weather:- a dull day, exceptional dark night. During the time we had been up in the Sector, the enemy's guns on the whole were quiet. It was a most interesting bit of country, the MONTELLO being hilly with very many deep dells. The PIAVE in front consisted of 2 or 3 channels and several islands, the deepest channel being on the farther side. The nights were exceptionally quiet, hardly a shot being fired. Remarks O.O. No 80 attached marked "A6" 2 OR to Hospital sick.
