Entry Training - range was allotted to "D" Company, bombing ground to "A" Company - usual training afterwards. The Commanding Officer went up to RUBBIO with the Quartermaster Regimental Sergt Major and company Sergt Majors. Extract from Battalion Orders:- "HONOURS AWARDS ORDER OF ST MICHAEL AND ST GEORGE The King has been pleased to give directions for the following promotion in, and appointment to, the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George for services rendered in connection with Military Operations in the Field (dated January 1st 1918) LIEUTENANT COLONEL R J CLARKE DSO 1/4th Royal Berkshire Regiment" Weather:- a fine cold day and night. Remarks 2/LT P G HANDFORD and his platoon returned from GHQ. CAPT C BARTRAM was appointed Area Commandant vice CAPT G C W GREGORY.
