Entry Arrived PAVIA 7am - departed 8.10am. Tea was made and issued, and horses were watered etc. Arrived GODOGONO 10.45am, left at 11.50am. Arrived at CREMONA 1pm. We kept in the Station all day and about 4pm we were informed that we should not be leaving before midnight. The Commanding Officer telephoned to the Commandante asking permission to take the Companies through the town for a walk. His request was readily acceded to and, headed by the Band, the two Companies went for an hours walk through the Town - 6.30pm - 7.30pm. The Commandante and 2 or 3 of his Staff met us on the way and walked round with us, afterwards taking the salute as the Companies marched into the Station. The reception here in places was most enthusiastic and the inhabitants were pleased to see us. Commandante - Gamba Cav. Villoreo. - Comondo Prendio Militaire. Staff - Magg Tonic Cav. Bernardino Commandantu - Divisiene R.R.C.C. Weather:- a cold raw morning, lovely when the sun was out, cold night. [Second train] The journey was continued via MILAN and PAVIA. The train halted at 9am where tea was issued etc. Thence via MANTOVA to NOGARO where the half Battalion detrained at 7.30pm. The task of off-loading was very quickly carried out and all the men were in billets by 9pm. - accommodation quite good. Weather:- clear but rather cold day, cold night.
