Entry | Work - Physical training, bayonet fighting, musketry etc. The following is an extract from Battalion Orders of 12/11/17:- "On the occasion of the death of his late Royal Highness Prince Christian, Honorary Colonel of the 4th Battalion Royal Berkshire Regiment, the following telegram was sent by the Commanding Officer:- 'Please convey to Princess Helena how deeply all ranks of this Battalion mourn the loss of their Honorary Colonel. They offer their humble and true condolences' "The following reply has been received:- 'The Equerry in Waiting is desired by Her Royal Highness Princess Christian to convey to Lieutenant Colonel R J Clarke, Commanding 1/4th Royal Berkshire Regiment, B.E.F., and all ranks of the Battalion, Her Royal Highness's deep gratitude for the expression of sympathy in the loss she has sustained in the death of his late Royal Highness, your Honorary Colonel. 78 PALL MALL" Weather:- a fine day. Remarks The CO took over command of the Brigade while the Brigadier was away. MAJOR J. N. ALDWORTH MC assumed command of the Battalion. |
