Entry We relieved the 4th GLOSTERS in the Left Section of the VIMY Sector, in SUPPORT to the OXFORDS, who took over he front line. Trains were due to leave LA PENDU at 5.30pm. The Battalion went up in three trains, last train leaving at 8.50pm. Relief completed 12.30am (3rd) Dispositions "A" Company - GERTIE TRENCH "B" Company - CANADA and KURTON TRENCHES "C" Company - BRICKFIELDS "D" Company - VIMY The accommodation for "A" and "B" Companies was fair - a few dugouts and the rest in shelters in the trench. The Brickfield dugouts were very good being made by the Huns under the stacks of bricks. Cellars and old concrete gun emplacements for "D" Company. Both "C" and "D" Companies were very comfortable. Two Companies of the Battalion had to be ready to turn out quickly and to be under the command of the front Battalion. Two companies were found for working parties, either day or night. Headquarters in old Regimental HQ of the Hun - three tiers and very confortably made. Transport and Quartermaster Stores moved to AUX RIETZ. Working parties for the night - 50 wiring the front line and 50 carrying - 50 for work under the OXFORDS and 50 for carrying and a permanent party on the RE dump of 12. A working party was found for the Tunnelling Company of 60 under the command of 2/LT S.W. REED, but remained away from the Battalion for the 8 days. Weather:- an unsettled day, rain at times.
