1917-10-15
Regiment 1/4th Royal Berkshire
Location France, [Road Camp]
Entry The Battalion left the Camp at 2.45am, marching to HOPOUTRE for entraining, transport leaving at 1.30am. We were the last Battalion of the Brigade to entrain. The entraining was carried out satisfactorily, the train leaving at 5.55am, and arriving at LIGNY ST. FLOCHEL about 12.45pm, travelling via St. POL. We detrained at 1.45pm, the Battalion leaving at 2pm, marching via AUBIGNY - HQ and A Company at CAMBLIGNEUL : "B", "C" and "D" Companies at CAMBLAIN L'ABBE. A halt of one hour was made on the road, when tea was issued. The last Company arrived in billets by 8.15pm. The going was good, except for the last mile for the three Companies. There were billets for HQ and "A" Company, and huts for "B", "C" and "D" Companies. It was a great change and relief to be in a country where there were no signs of war. - the best change possible after the condition in Flanders. Remarks O.O.No 70 "A10"
