Entry The Brigade moved to the LICQUES Area. We moved from ROAD CAMP at 5.0am. Marching to ABEELE, where we entrained with the GLOSTERS at 9.15am. The Battalion detained at AUDRUICQ at 1.45pm., leaving at 2pm. And marching via RECQUES - ZOUAFQUES - GUEMY to AUDENFORT, the last Company ("C") which had the farthest to go arriving at 7.15pm. The Battalion was billetted in farms and barns, and was somewhat scattered - HQ, Quartermaster Stores and Transport at AUDENFORT - "A" and "B" Companies at LA POIRIER - "C" Company at FOUQUESSOLLES - "D" Company at LA QUINGUIE. The remainder of the transport entrained at PROVEN at 2pm. detraining at AUDRUICQ at 7pm. - leaving at 7.45pm, and arriving at AUDENFORT at 12.45am. (17th) The attitude of the civilian population was decidedly hostile, after their experience of the previous troops, who had apparently not behaved as they should have done. Weather:- a fine day.
