Entry | A fine day. Easterly wind. An arduous day with discovering all Battye and Mills bombs, which have been found defective, also 76,000 odd rounds of SAA had to be withdrawn. It is believed the ammunition, marked B, was made in America and is defective. At 5 pm we opened fire with out trench mortars 95mm, this drew fire from enemy's mortars. The gunners, who were ready, located two of these and heavily shelled them. The 50th, our affiliated battery, brought down a German aeroplane near WINDY CORNER. Enemy transport heard in LA BASSEE from 9 pm to 12 pm. |
