Regiment | 1/4th Royal Berkshire |
---|---|
Location | France, [Combles] |
Entry | The Brigade moved to the 11th Division "M" area, leaving bout 4a.m. arriving about 7am. onwards. The Battalion went to a camp near BEULENCOURT, where there was plenty of accommodation - a good march owing to the early hour of the start, and only two men fell out in the Brigade. The country from COMBLES to LE TRANSLOY was desolate and wretched, no green could be seen, the whole countryside appeared blasted. The line where the shell area ceased was quite noticeable for green fields, trees etc. It was depressing country to march through, for the ground was foul in many places, and the littler of fighting was still to be seen. Weather:- a very hot day with thunderstorm at night. Remarks O.O. No 38. |
