Entry We moved up to the SUNKEN ROAD at 3.30am. Arriving there about 4.15am. The attack on the QUENNEMONT SPUR had not been successful but by the time the position had been ascertained, it was too light to make another attack. "A" Company relieved at dawn. Two platoons of B Company took over the line. The Battalion took over the BRIGADE RIGHT SUBSECTOR in the evening from the different units holding the line viz.:- 8th WORCESTERS, 7th WORCESTERS, 5th GLOSTERS and 6th GLOSTERS. Dispositions as follows:- B Company on the RIGHT. A Company CENTRE. D Company GILLEMONT FARM, 1 platoon of C Company attached to D Company. Remainder of C Company in SUPPORT. BHQ in SUNKEN ROAD. The relief was completed by 2am. (26th) The situation was very obscure as all the attacking Companies were naturally very mixed. The enemy were very nervous all night, 3 times they put down their barrage. Weather:- a dull cold day. Remarks Map attached marked A 7.
