Entry In billets. The GOC held a meeting at 9.30am for CO's, 2nd's in Command and Adjutants. The proceedings were secret, and referred to approaching attack on large scale by French army, and the employment by us of an accessory. The Brigade was not for attack but to be ready to take advantage of any favourable situation. We go out tomorrow 12 miles back for rest. The Officers dined Gen Horne CB GOC 2nd Division: Capt Davidson 2nd Div Staff, Col Hill ADMS 2nd Div, Major Armitage 1/KRR and Capt Isaac Staff Captain. The Divisional Band played selection in the garden after dinner. Lt Ward returned from leave. A draft of 1 NCO and 30 arrived.
