Entry The 144 BRIGADE relieved the 145 BRIGADE, the 4th GLOUCESTERS relieving us. Guides met them at HERBECOURT at 5pm. And the relief was completed by 11pm. The thaw began in the afternoon with mist and light rain, with heavy rain later. The trenches soon began to be in bad condition, and by the end of the relief, the mud was a foot deep in places. The Battalion returned to CAPPY, the last platoon getting in at 3.15am. A foot parade was held as each platoon arrived, all feet were washed and powdered, and dry socks put on. Weather:- mist and light rain in afternoon, heavy rain at night. Remarks LT O M TAMES returned from leave.
