Entry | At 1 am we blew up two defensive mines, both successful. A patrol went out at 2am to reconnoitre large crater blown up on Aug 20th and to listen for any sounds of mining. There were none. A quiet morning. A few minenwerfer came over at 3 am, 5 am and 8.15 am but our artillery quickly silenced them. The enemy put up notices announcing the fall of NOVO GEORGEVITCH. We hit two enemy periscopes, and drove a hostile aeroplane back. A red balloon came over the line on our left at 7.30 pm and disappeared over BETHUNE. We called on our field battery to fire two rounds at 8.20pm on hostile working party. The enemy yelled. 2/Lt Blazey 2/Lt Jackson joined the Battalion. 1 Sgt and 20 men joined Battn. |
