Location France, Left Sector Le Sars
Entry 1/4th Royal Berkshire Regiment relieved the 1st BUCKs Battalion in the left front sector. Dispositions as under:- Right Front company - A Company 2 Platoons in SCOTLAND TRENCH 2 Platoons in CHALK TRENCH Left Front Company - B Company 2 Platoons in SCOTLAND TRENCH 2 Platoons in CHALK TRENCH Right Support Company - D Company Company in O G 1 Left Support Company - C Company Company in O G 1 and 2 This Company found four sentry posts. Trenches in very bad condition owing to weather and hostile artillery fire. Relief was complete at 8p.m. without casualties. Brigadier General SLADEN DSO MC was in command of the line. A working Company of 2 Officers (Lt SUTTON and Lt ALLEN) and 100 other ranks were billeted in CONTALMAISON for work under RE in forward Divisional Area. A Special party of 20 OR under Lt CAWLEY were billeted in DESTEMONT FARM. This party was set aside for patrols and raids. 2/Lt BUXTON and 2/Lt HEPPEL reported back from Div School but remained at Dump at ACID DROP COPSE owing to temporary ill health. 2/Lt ROSS and 2/Lt EVANS joined Divisional School.
