War Diary

1916-11-20
Regiment 1/4th Royal Berkshire
Location France, [Peake Wood]
Entry All day was spent in cleaning up etc. The Commanding Officer went to the BRIGADE to take over temporary duties. Major BATTCOCK took over temporary command of the Battalion. The BRIGADIER left to take up the duties of training a Brigade in England for the next 3 months, with the idea of his returning at the end of this time. He left to the very great regret of all. During his command he had completely changed the feeling that existed between the Brigade and the various units under the command. There was now complete understanding between him and the Commanding Officers, all work ran smoothly and it was a pleasure to work with him in any way. No Brigadier could have been more trusted by the Commanding Officers, and all ranks under him. Weather:- a fine day.
