Entry We relieved the Bucks Battalion in the front line, leaving at 8p.m. completing relief by 11.30p.m. Rations for 24 hours were carried up by each man. The front trenches were in no better state than the support line. Dispositions:- B Coy - right front Coy - 2 Platoons Scotland Trench, 2 in Chalk Trench. D Coy - left front Coy - 1 Platoon in Scotland Trench, 3 in Chalk Trench. A Coy right support. O.G1 South of the road. C Coy left support. O.G2. North of the road. BHQ 26th Avenue. One dugout for each of the support Coys, and one for the two front jointly. The relief passed off most fortunately, the casualties were small considering that there was constant shelling the whole time. The following officers of the Devonshire Regiment joined for duty:- Capt L LACEY-SMITH, Lieut H L WISE. 2/Lt J J MARCHANT, 2/Lt R C EVANS, 2/Lt V C AXWORTHY, 2/Lt E W H CABESPINE, 2/Lt H G BUCHANAN. Weather:- wet morning, fine later. Remarks Casualties: 3 wounded. Capt BOYLE admitted to Hospital.
