War Diary

1916-11-07
Regiment 1/4th Royal Berkshire
Location France, Lossenge Wood
Entry We relieved the OXFORDS in the support line, leaving the village at 5.15p.m. Working parties of 100 for the day, and 300 for the night were found under the REs. Everyone was wet through, and it was a very wretched day for all. Support line contained no shelters or dugouts, and all the trenches had at least a foot of mud and water in them. No washing was possible, and except for having dry socks sent up each night from the Transport with rations, no change was possible for anyone. Weather:- a very wer day and night.
