Entry The Brigade moved to VARENNES. We left at 5.30a.m. arriving at 11a.m. Owing to some mistake the Brigade had to make a large detour in consequence of part of the original road being unfit for traffic. Packs were carried in lorries. In the Battalion four men fell out on the march, but all the sick were sent on in advance. The billets were very crowded and dirty. Orders were received to be ready to move 7p.m. on the 11th. These were cancelled at 8.45p.m. but at 10.30p.m. orders were received to move at 7.30a.m. the following day. Weather:- a cloudy and sultry day with some rain in the morning.
