Entry The Division moved to MAILLY-MAILLET. We left the Huts at 10.0a.m. arriving at the bivouacs about 1.0p.m.; a bad march owing to the great number of checks, but only one man fell out. The Battalion moved in full marching order, with the following additions:- 2 Sandbags, 2 MILLS NO 5, tin triangles, white bibs, bandoliers, all ranks; 50 Shovels and 25 Picks divided. The rest of the day was spent in bivouacs waiting for orders. All the guns round were very busy one of the 15" being quite close to us. Weather:- a fine and hot day. Remarks The following officers of the 3rd East Surrey's were attd for duty. Lt E C Smith, 2/Lt G Wise, 2/Lt H Tripp, 2/Lt P G O'Hara, 2/Lt J L Wright, 2/Lt J L Gregory.
