Regiment | 1/4th Royal Berkshire |
---|---|
Location | France, Maison-Roland |
Entry | The Battalion marched to the training area, St RIQUIER, leaving at 6.0a.m. and returning at 1.0p.m. Battalion training was practiced. This was the first time the Battalion had been able to do any field training without taking any notice of what crops were on the ground for eleven months. It was very quickly realised how much trench warfare tends to dull the initiative and work against any quick movements of mind or body. It must be considered essential that many weeks must be given for practising field operations before troops who have been holding the trenches for any length of time can be fit for their new work. Weather:- a fine day. |
