Entry All day was spent in resting, clearing up, and loading of the spare kits. Two GS Wagons were lent us by the 3rd WARWICK Battery, and Waterproof capes were sent on in advance by lorry. The Commanding Officer spoke to the Battalion in the morning, speaking most warmly of the splendid way in which the Battalion had behaved under the intense bombardment on the night of the 15th/16th, praising them for the high moral and the spirit they had shown, telling them of the praise they received from the acting GOC Division for their behaviour. Weather:- a very hot day. Remarks Capt Battcock and Lt Lund went on Leave. A draft of 15 joined the Battalion. 4 more of the casualties were buried at night. Lt Down went to Divl School.
