War Diary

1916-03-01
Regiment 1/4th Royal Berkshire
Location France, Hebuterne
Entry "B" Company relieved "A" Company by 9.15p.m. The Commanding Officer attended a demonstration of the Bangalore Torpedo. The trenches improved greatly but there was still plenty of water. Enemy guns put about 50 rounds on our Left Company in the morning. A patrol, under the command of Lieut Down, went out from trench 32 to inspect our wire: they then crossed over and went along the enemy's wire. The Division is now part of the 10th Corps, 4th Army. Weather: a fine day.
