Location France, Hebuterne
Entry The new dispositions came into force at noon, the 4th OXFORDS, the Left Battalion, remaining in their present position and of the three other Battalions one was out for four days, the remaining two taking the additional front between them. We hold our old front, plus four fire trenches on our Right. Our Section was divided into two, each Company with three platoons in the firing line, one in immediate support and each having the call of two platoons from one of the reserve Companies. The Company in the KEEP was brought up as Battalion Reserve. Enemy guns were quiet all the morning but their Field guns and 5.9s were busy in the afternoon. Weather:- a rough showery day and very wet night. Colonel O P Serocold, VD vacated the Command of the Battalion on February 14th, having received an order to report himself at the WAR OFFICE as soon as possible. His leaving was a great loss to the Battalion for he had put 32 years Service in the Regiment, 9 years as Commanding Officer.
