Entry B and D Companies relieved A and C Companies by 6.0p.m. Our guns carried out an arranged bombardment lasting most of the day. The enemy replied chiefly with their 5.9s. A conference of Commanding Officers was held at Brigade H Qrs at 4.30p.m. to discuss the new dispositions. Weather:- a wet day and night. At 11.0p.m. the enemy opened rapid fire on the Division on our Left, lasting about 10 minutes, and from midnight till dawn our guns and theirs were firing continuously. Remarks Capts Boyle & Holcroft & Lt Ward went on leave. Capt Winsloe appointed acting Adjt. Capt Cruttwell retd from III Army School of Instruction.
