War Diary

1915-11-13
Regiment 1/4th Royal Berkshire
Location France, Hebuterne
Entry The platoons of "A" and "C" Companies relieved immediately after breakfast. The trenches were even worse in the morning after the bad night, and the men were tired out. - so little rest had been obtained in the night. HOCHE was the worst trench on the Right, and MORAND on the Left. Liquid mud was as deep as the knees in many place. Working parties to assist "A" and "C" Companies were found by "D" Company. Enemy's working parties were very quiet - probably they were all engaged in clearing up their own trenches. Weather:- a showery day, but fine night. Remarks Capts Lewis & Battcock, and Lieut Payne returned from Leave.
