Entry Working parties in the morning only as on the 12th. B and D Cpmpanies relieved A and C at 5p.m. - "A" Company to the KEEP, "C" Company to the CHATEAU. The billets of the Trench Mortar Battery were noticed to be on fire about 4.0a.m.: they were burnt out. A platoon of D Company came down to assist and a hand-pump was sent down from the RE. The enemy's guns fired intermittently at the right section of our line from noon to 3p.m. At about 3.30p.m. Howitzwer shells fell in SAILLY. For the last two days the enemy's MGs have sprayed the KEEP and BUCQUOY Road intermittently from the south side of GOMMECOURT WOOD. About 5p.m. their Field Guns fired 7 shells in GUDIN as the relief was taking place. A showery morning but fine later. Remarks Lieut Bean went on leave. Capt Smythe RAMC 3rd FA was attached to us.
