Entry | Sounds of tapping, as if mining was in progress, were heard underneath a dug-out in NIEL. This was reported and investigated by the RE. The 144th Brigade relieved the 145th from 9.30a.m. onwards, our Transport commencing to leave at 5a.m. The 144th Bde marched in via LARREY and the 145th marched out via JENA. The 4th GLOSTERS began to relieve the Battalion about 11.0a.m., each company moving off as they were relieved, the last section arriving a SOUAsTRE about 2.45p.m. The Battalion Drums & Fifes playing the first two Companies in. The billets on the whole were quite comfortable, but a few changes will be made in the morning. A showery day, with rain nearly all night. |
