Entry A rifle battery was commenced in trench ALSACE near the PUISIEUX Road. Shells were fired into the village in the morning. Lieut Cruttwell, 2/Lieut Oldacre & 4 men went out in front of trench HOCHE 8.30p.m. They discovered two new "trip" wires in front of German sap at Point 861. The main wire in front of the sap had been strengthened since their last visit. Their working parties were located (a) In front trench FERME SANS NOM (b) On the PUISIEUX Road. The enemy's transport was very audible in PUISIEUX all the evening. Their trench joining 361 with the BOCQUOY - PUISIEUX Cross Roads had been completed. A great deal of work of a defensive nature has been done by the enemy since we were last in the trenches, especially in connection with their wire. The enemy aeroplanes come over HEBUTERNE every morning. Remarks Maj Clarke & Capt Cruttwell returned from Leave. Capt Blandy beng on extension on Med:l grounds.
