Entry | Received news that a Company and a half of a "Kitchener" Battalion would be attached to us for instruction. The line held by the Battalion was re-arranged, being divided into two Sections, each Section to he held by one Company. RIGHT Section - BEGEAUD - BOUILLON - PAS DE TIR - MARGUERITTE - PRAT. LEFT Section - DURAND - BOUILLET - NIEL - LASSALLE - HOCHE - half of BATAILLE Communication Trenches:- RIGHT Section - SONIS - REVAL - BATEUSE. LEFT Section - BATTEUSE - BRICKFIELDS - BIRON. "A" Company took over the RIGHT Section; "C" Company the LEFT, the change being completed at 6.55p.m. "B" & "D" Companies being in local reserve in the following positions:- RIGHT Section - SONIS - REVAL - BATTEUSE. LEFT Section - BATTEUSE - BRICKFIELDS - BIRON. "A" Company took over the RIGHT Section; "C" Company the LEFT, the change being completed at 6.55p.m. "B" & "D" Companies being in local reserve in the following positions:- B Company - 2 Platoons in BRICKFIELDS; 1 in SQUARE; 1 in village. D Company - 4 Platoons in VILLAGE. Working parties from "D" Company - Dug-outs, Ration Carrying, etc. 2/Lieut HINE and 6 NCOs were sent to SAILLY to meet the "Kitchener" Platoons at 6.45p.m., "B" Company and 2 Platoons of "D" Company of the 11th WARWICKS, 112th Brigade, 37th Division, being attached to us. They arrived about 9.0p.m., 5,6, & 7 Platoons bivouacked in the Orchard by HQ Mess: 8 Platoon in the Barn by the QM Stores: 15 & 16 Platoons in houses near the SERRE Cross Roads. "Alarm" posts were allotted them. Instructions for their Training as attached. Trench MARGUERITTE was shelled about 7.45a.m. The enemy's transport was heard in PUISIEUX at 4 and 5.30a.m. Very hot day. Remarks Capt Holcroft and Lieut Gordon went on leave. |
