Entry Working party C Company only in the morning. Baths in the village for A Company in the morning, C Coy in the afternoon. A patrol under LIEUT CRUTTWELL (Serg' Tester. Corpl Taylor, Ptes Mills and Thatcher) went out from Trench HOCHE at 2.45a.m. They proceeded to the "TWO TREES", where they found a broad, well defined track: perhaps used by the German patrols. They returned at 4.0a.m., Serg' Tester having placed a board with the news of the Russian Naval Victory for their information. An HE Shell fell in the BRICKFIELDS wbout 10.0a.m. with disastrous results. A and C Companies relieved B and D Companies at 5.30p.m. onwards; completed at 6.30p.m. A Brigade MG "Hate" was held from 11.0p.m. till midnight - result unknown, but no sleep was possible for anyone in this time. Verbal orders were received in the afternoon re the new move and dispositions of the Battalion. A Brigade wire was received at 8.30p.m. to carry out the move, time etc to be arranged by O'sC Units the next day. An unusual amount of the enemy's transport was heard from the direction of PUISIEUX in the early part of the evening. The enemy's working parties were busy all night. Remarks Casualties: 4 killed, 1 died of wounds, 9 wounded.
