Location | France, Bayencourt |
Entry | OC Companies went in the morning to look over village and trenches at HEBUTERNE, held by the Oxfords & Gloucesters. The Battalion marched up by Platoons arriving at 8.45p.m. onwards to relieve a Battalion of the 93rd French Regiment. The Battalion billeted in the West End of the village which, fortunately, was the safest part from shell fire. Every house in the village had been damaged and only two of the inhabitants are living there. The cellar accommodation is good and the French had marked on each house the number of men per cellar. A lovely day. |
