War Diary

1915-06-22
Regiment 1st Royal Berkshire
Location France, CUINCHY
Entry Btn in the trenches. Enemy blew in the face of the same mine as the one they gassed about 4.30am. The damage to personnel was only two men with broken limbs. Eight men were buried, but were rescued unhurt. The small amount of damage was largely due to the efforts of Capt M C Radford. The enemy shelled the reserve trenches about tea time, otherwise a quiet day. N.B. Some doubt as to whether it was gas or smoke. 2/Lt A B Turner joined the Battalion and was posted to "B" Coy.
