Entry | The 8th Division was withdrawn from the Line on the 31st May 1918 to NANTEUIL and bivouaced for the night 30/1st June in a small wood just SOUTH of the village. The bayonet strength of the Battalion at this date was about 7 Officers, 120 Other Ranks. Orders were received today for all these Officers and Men together with all other remaining troops of the 8th Division to report to 74th Infantry Brigade Head Quarters NAPPE where they would form one Battalion called the 1/8th Composite Battalion of which Major H.P. Allaway assumed 2nd in Command. This Composite Battalion was moved to BOIS de COURTON in Reserve. |
