Entry 2359 GERMAN white flags appeared on NORTH bank of R MAAS and working parties could be seen. Large numbers of Allied aircraft - DAKOTA, FORTRESS and HALIFAX types - passed low overhead throughout the day on their mission of bringing food to occupied Holland. Lt. Col H BOEHM (1 Bucks) and Major G.BLACK (21 Army Gp) arrived 1600 hrs from T Force HQ with 1 Cdn Army to give infm regarding T Force generally and the bn role in particular. T (=Target) Force has as its object the seizing of installations, factories, offices etc, which experts advise may contain processes, infm and records of particular interest to military and industrial intelligence. Targets are classified as A (high priority) or B. They will be held until the arrival of assessors to vet the targets and decide whether or not they are to be held to be investigated by experts from the UK. The bn area for this task is the whole of WEST HOLLAND which includes 8 Type A and some 140 Type B targets. In the event of a GERMAN collapse or surrender the bn is expected to proceed to its task at very short notice. Short O Gp held 1900 hrs to pass infm to Coy Comds so that preliminary domestic arrangements could be made. HQ 116 Inf Bde RM were relieved by 308 Bde RA and 30 Bn RM by 627 Regt RA. Op comd of sector passed to comd 308 Bde RA at 2359 hrs. Weather cols, wet.
