Entry | 2359 The Bn left HAMME in Coy gps at 15 min intervals, commencing 1100 hrs. Order of march D B A C HQ Sp Coys, Cooks trucks left independently at 0930 hrs. The move was completed without incident, the only casualty being C Coy Carrier which broke a track. On arrival, after a hot meal, A B and D Coys moved into the line. Op comd of the sector passed to Comd Offr 1925 hrs. The Bn is on the left of the Bde area, with 3 Indep DUTCH Coys on its right and a Belgian Bde on its left. The Bn is responsible for a sector of R MAAS from right HEUSDEN (E 2051) to the left (inter-bde bdy) Easting grid line 14. Bn layout is as follows: Right Coy, Area HEUSDEN. A Coy: Centre Coy, area DOEVEREN (E 1750) B Coy: left Coy, SOUTH of R MAAS opposite DRONGELEN (E 1449), D Coy. Res Coy, area ELSHOUT (E 2048). C Coy (with second line def and mob counter attack roles). Bn HQ, HQ Coy, Sp Coy, B Ech, WAALWIJK (E 1546). 3" Mortar pl is decentralised to fwd coys, each having 1 sec under comd. Infm about enemy is scanty and unreliable. Such forces as there are NORTH of R MAAS on the Bde front are believed to consist principally of ex GAF ground staff converted into Inf and DUTCH SS Tps. The front has been quiet for approx a week. 5th columnists are said to be abound. Weather fine. |
