Regiment 30th Royal Berkshire
Location Loon Plage, France?
Entry 2359. Red Cross rep with comforts crossed into DUNKIRK 0920 hrs. He and his party were a little late and the GERMAN reception party becoming a little impatient and curious of the delay, moved up the main rd DUNKIRK - LOON PLAGE. They were observed by the "Road Coy" Comd, Maj J.R. Ruck Keene who went forth to meet them. He had a conversation with them for some ten minutes. They numbered among them one Major TURKE, Comd Composite Battle Gp, on the Bn front. He is quite a legend among the Allies in the sector, being the commandant of an en battle school whose students finally qualify by undertaking one-man patrols into Allied lines. Maj Ruck Keene judged him to be a good soldier, and a capable character. Red Cross rep left DUNKIRK 1610 hrs and the truce ceased 1630 hrs. A Coy relieved B Coy without incident 2150 hrs. Weather cold, wet. Nights, some visibility.
