Regiment 30th Royal Berkshire
Location Swolgen, Holland?
Entry 2359. D Coy reported en patrol of 4 men in their area 0345 hrs. Search failed to find them. In view of general situation and likelihood of own tps on our immediate front, no fu was permitted. Fwd Coys manned OP's and patrolled extensively on orders of Bde Comd that every effort was to be made to ascertain whether en were still occupying posns on far bank. No signs were seen, however, of the en all day. One Civ, carrying BELGIAN Identity papers, gave himself up to D Coy after waving a white flag from EAST bank of R MAAS and being collected in an assault boat. Orders were received that no civs would be allowed to land on WEST bank and to discourage them, dummy minefields consisting of danger notices are to be put along the WEST BK. Bde Comd visited Bn HQ 1430 hrs. Weather fine, cool.
